Will Reese Light Duty Weight Distribution Work on an Al-KO I-Beam Trailer Frame

Question:

Id like to install this WD hitch on a AL-KO frame however, Im worried about it damaging crushing the trailer frame when the brackets are secured on the frame. Do you have any experience using this type of hitch with AL-KO frames or other light weight frames? Ive also included a photo.

The key to getting the right weight distribution system, and not damaging the trailer frame, is to go by the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow plus the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

If the tongue weight ends up being up to 400 pounds then using Reese light duty system # 66557 will work just fine. If you were to use a system rated higher than the tongue weight that is when you would run into problems with damage to the frame because the spring bar tension would be too great.

On I-beam frames like yours the bracket design in the Reese light duty system will work. I have included some helpful links for you to view.
