Will a Surco Safari Roof Mount Basket Fit a SportRack Frontier Roof Rack on a 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Question:

I currently have a Surco Safari Roof Rack/Cargo Basket that was purchased specially for my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. If I purchase the SportRack p/n SR1002 for my 2011 Hyundai Sonata, will I be able to use the Surco Cargo basket on the Sonata? Will any special adaptors for each, be required?

On the SportRack square bars on roof rack # SR1002 you would need to use an adapter, # SPT400, to mount the Safari basket. If you already use these adapter on your Santa Fe then you will not need to add another set of adapters. The only issue is the SportRack crossbars are 3/4 inches wide and tall and the adapter is meant for the Thule square bars that are slightly larger so you may need a spacer of some kind to take up the slack.

Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Hyundai for the roof capacity of the Sonata before loading anything in the basket.
