Will I Have to Modify My Exhaust to Fit of the Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch for a 1998 Ford E-250 Van

Question:

Hi, Have a Ford E250, 1998 that I just purchased and want at least a Class IV Hitch. What I dont want to do is having to move/modify the exhaust. Drilling holes in the frame if needed is not a problem however it would appear that there are already holes in place. What I need to know is the dimensions on the side plates of the mount to make sure I do not have to move the exhaust pipe. I can see that the Class 3s would not be a problem but I need a Class IV. Thanks

I spoke with my contact at the manufacturer and he assured me that the exhaust would not have to be moved or modified to install the Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch, item # 41906, on your 1998 Ford E250 Van.If you have an aftermarket exhaust or the exhaust has been changed then there is a possibility of interference.

If a charcoal canister is present you will have to remove and reinstall the charcoal canister in its original location with existing bolts. Be sure that the canister does not touch the hitch frame bracket or attachment bolt when re-installed.

You will not have to drill new holes but will need to enlarge the existing holes for the heavy duty hardware supplied with the hitch. At this time I do not have a Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch in stock to measure but ordering should not be a problem.
