7-Way Vehicle Wiring Harness For a 2018 Ford Explorer To Connect To Draw-Tite Receiver # 76034
Question:
Hello, I have a 2018 Ford Explorer and recently had an E Trailer hitch put on..looks great. What type of electrical harness should I get, the 4 or 7 prong...right now I will probably rent a trailer for hauling stuff, but may get a small travel trailer later. My hitch already comes with the small plate attached to mount the harness. thanks.

Since you intend to one day pull a travel trailer I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118272 on your 2018 Ford Explorer. The travel trailer will likely require a brake controller due to the weight of the trailer. For a brake controller you will need a 7-way connection.
The Mounting Bracket # PK12711U will allow you to attach the 7-way connector to the mounting plate on the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76034.
Since the Tekonsha harness ties into the factory tow package wiring you will be able to use the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED87FR to install a Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR.
The Adapter 7 Pole to 4 Pole # 47345 will allow you to plug into your 7-way and haul smaller trailers that have a 4-way flat connector. Test LED's are also built in to help diagnose any trailer lighting issues.
