Trailer Brake Controller For A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 With Factory Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel. It has a factory trailer brake installed and it works. I just dont know how dependable they are. Can you add a trailer brake device such as Redarce to the factory trailer system or can you replace the factory trailer system? Thank you

Yes, you can install an aftermarket brake controller on your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with the factory tow package.
It sounds like you're interested in the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR. This is an excellent option, and will keep the interior of your Silverado, clean after install, only exposing a control knob. Whereas, most brake controllers have a bulky box mounted to the underside of your dash. Additionally, the Tow-Pro Elite, does not have to be in any orientation to be installed and work properly.
You will have to uninstall your OEM brake controller first, and will also have to take your vehicle to the dealership, to get the truck flashed to remove the error codes that removing the original brake controller will throw.
There is also a plug-in-play adapter that is made to make install extremely easy and efficient, you will simply plug # 331-TPH-010 into the back of the Tow-Pro Elite, and the other end will plug into the under-dash junction box. Since you already have the towing package, you won't have to run any wiring or do any splicing.
