Best Way To Supplement Trailer Suspension That Bottoms Out Under Heavy Loads

I am looking to upgrade the suspension on our 14,000 lb PJ Trailer. I replaced the springs and equalizers on both axles, I am looking for a suspension enhancement for it as occasionally with a large load it bottoms out. What would be an economical option for us?

The most economical option we have for supplementing the suspension on your 14,000 pound PJ Trailer will be the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks # LC281281. These are rated for use with 5,200 to 7,000 pound 3" overslung axles and you will need one kit per axle. This will require drilling and you will need a minimum of 4" of clearance between the inside of the tire and and I-Beam flange. These do work, but as they are the most economical option, they will not be the best option.

For the best option, I recommend the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # SS33HR. This is more expensive and you will need one set per axle as well, but I do prefer this kit. This allows the leaf spring ample movement while cushioning light loads, but then stiffens the more it is compressed, which allows for more support with heavy loads. Plus this is American made, which is a plus in my book.
