Parts Needed For Installing Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller on 2018 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I have a 2018 toyota highlander with dealer installed 4 pin connector. I would like to add brake controller and 7 pin, using your Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller Item # RED44FR The instructional video for installation is good. However around 3:23 he plugs a module into a connector at the back of the car. Will I have that connector even though the current tow package from dealer is 4 pin, not 7 pin? thanks

In the video you saw installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR, they are also installing the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness # 22119 on a 2018 Toyota Highlander. I have linked the video below. The connectors will be on your Highlander only with other wiring already inside the connectors since you have a factory 4-way.
I recommend using the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 on your Highlander since you already have the factory 4-way harness. Your 4-way will connect directly to the Universal kit and give you both a 7-way and 4-way connection on your Highlander. The Tekonsha # 22119 will only give you a 7-way leaving you to need an adapter. I have also linked an installation video below for the Universal Kit on a 2019 Highlander so you can see how much less wiring is going to be involved with this.
A Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-002 will allow you to tie into the factory accessory panel for mounting the brake controller giving you a clean appearance.
