How to Install a 7-Way Wiring Harness on 2013 Lexus RX 350 for Powered Bike Rack

I was looking at the Saris door country bike rake that requires a 7way connector. How difficult is it to install this connector to 2013 Lexus RX350

In order to install a 7-way on your 2013 Lexus RX 350 you will need to start by adding a 4-way wiring harness. If you do not have the factory tow package, you need the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This will clamp onto your existing wiring so no cutting or splicing is required.

If you do have the factory tow package, you can use the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118255 instead. This plugs into your factory tow port. Either of these will give you a 4-way that is capable of powering a trailer's signal lights.

Once this is installed, you need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L. This kit comes with the adapter, wiring, and everything else you need to add a 7-way to your vehicle. The adapter has both a 4-way and 7-way connection should you still need to use a 4-way at some point. After this is installed you will be able to power the bike rack.

I have attached some installation videos on different vehicles so you can see what the process is like. The difficulty will somewhat depend on whether or not you have the tow package, but overall it is fairly simple and only requires running a few wires.
