What Hitch Bike Rack will Fit My Fat-Tire Bike with a 49-Inch Wheelbase on My 2020 Kia Sorento?
Question:
I have an ebike with 4..25inch x 20inch tires and 69inch from front tire edge to rear tire edge ... will this bike carrier accommodate these dimensions?

Expert Reply:
Since the wheelbase is measured from the center of the front wheel to center of the rear wheel, the wheelbase of your bike with 20-inch diameter tires is 49 inches. This factors in the 10-inch radius of each wheel (since it measures 69 inches from front tire edge to rear tire edge). With this particular wheelbase, it will unfortunately not fit the Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # SA4025F. This is because the SuperClamp EX only fits wheelbases up to 48 inches long.
However, if you are looking for another wheel-mount option that will accommodate wheelbases up to 50-1/2 inches long, I recommend the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # TH83JV (2-inch hitch version) or the # TH23JV (1-1/4 inch hitch version). The XTR also accommodates fat tires up to 5 inches wide and comes with a 60-pound weight capacity (50 pound capacity for a second bike on the 1-1/4 inch version). One of the great features of the XTR is that it has integrated wheels to let you roll the rack to the hitch, so you do not have to waste energy carrying it.
From the vehicle you inputted in our fitguide, it looks like you have a 2020 Kia Sorento. If you need a compatible hitch that works with the XTR, I recommend the etrailer Hitch - 2" # e98843. The etrailer hitch comes with all hardware required for a bolt-on installation without drilling. It is also compatible with both SX models and non-SX models of Sorentos. However, it is important to note that you will need to use a hitch extender like the # e88YR in order to use the XTR with the etrailer hitch to give you enough bumper clearance. When you use the hitch adapter, you will reduce the maximum weight capacity of the hitch by 50%. However, you will still have 375 pounds of tongue weight available.
