Is a Charge Line Kit Required for Flat Towing a 2016 Ford F-150 4x4
Question:
Leaving on THursday for a 1,000 mile journey. Have a 2016 Ford F-150 4x4 with a recently purchased used Patriot 2. I have just heard I need a battery charge kit to hook up to my motorhome or my truck battery will die during travels and/or Patriot 2 wont have any power after a short time. 1. Is this correct that I need these parts? 2. How easy is it for someone with marginal mechancial skills to install and make this work?

You are correct, you will need a charge line kit for your 2016 Ford F-150 since it drains the battery when towing. The correct kit is the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25. This will connect your battery to the 7-way plug at the front of your towed vehicle.
You will also need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75 if no charge line is present in your RV. The installation process for both is fairly simple and only requires installing a single wire and circuit breaker on each side.
For your braking system, you will need the # RM-88400 relay prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn. It is not required when using magnetic tow lights. You will also need the following to flat tow your F-150:
Base plate- Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524431-5
Tow Bar- Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522
Wiring- Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
I have attached some installation videos as well as the written instructions so you can see what the process is like.
