Tire Chain Recommendation for 265/70-16 Size Tires on a 2020 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
Hey there, I’m trying to decide which tire chains are best for my 2020 Toyota Tacoma with tire size 265/70-16. I am debating between the titan chain square link ladder or the titan chain square link diamond pattern. Not sure if one is truly better than the other for traction and if the smoothness of the ride with diamond patter is significant. The two options I’m considering now: 1 TC2228SCAM 2 TC2524 Thanks! I am in Portland Oregon and plan to drive to Bend and then Montana this winter. I’m mostly commuting through the mountains with a mix of ice and snow.

Both the Ladder Pattern # TC2228SCAM and Diamond Pattern # TC2524 Titan Chain snow chains are good options for a 265/70-16 size tire, but when I looked up the owner's manual for your 2020 Toyota Tacoma it stated that you need to use low clearance chains so I recommend the Titan Chain # TC2324 instead. It has the diamond pattern and square links but they are a little smaller for better clearance.
The diamond pattern is superior to the ladder style because it has constant contact with the road. This means that you won't feel like you're going over a lot of little speed bumps, plus you'll always have chains making contact so there won't be any gaps.
Attached is an installation video of the chains that I recommended on a 2021 Tacoma for you to check out.
