Ground Problem Causing Turn Signals on New Trailer to Malfunction

Question:

Turn signals on trailer both flash when left or right signal is on so I checked the ground on the tongue and put a washer between wire and nut and did the same on the trailer lights. I have the running lights but no brake lights or signals on trailer! This is a new Right on Trailer that I put together myself!

I'd start by using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the trailer connector on the tow vehicle to ensure you have the proper signals coming out of the tow vehicle.

You'll also want to make sure that the ring terminals on those ground connections are directly contacting unpainted metal. Once they're installed, you can hit them with a quick shot of spray paint or clear coat to protect them from corrosion. If the threads of the screw are the only contact to bare metal, that could be insufficient.
