Weight Distribution/Sway Control Recommended for 3300 lb Camper
Question:
Hello, I have a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L with tow package l, I had a 2020 Kia telluride without a tow package before. Would you recommend a weight distribution hitch to tow a 3300 dry weight camper? I believe towing capacity is 62-6800 on the Jeep. Thanks

Your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L weighs in at right about 5000 lbs. Anytime the towed trailer weighs more than half the weight of the tow vehicle, we highly recommend weight distribution.
Also, because a high-sided trailer like a camper is very susceptible to trailer sway caused by cross winds and passing/oncoming traffic, I'd highly recommend going with a system that provides sway control along with weight distribution.
I'd recommend the Fastway e2, part # FA92-00-0600. The system combines proven weight distribution performance along with a very effective sway control component. The system is designed for trailers with an as-towed tongue weight ranging from 250-600 lbs, so it'll be perfect for the smaller camper you described. You'll also need a trailer ball, part # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.
To install the trailer ball, you'll need a 1-7/8 inch thin wall socket. If you don't already have one, or can't borrow one, we offer them as part # EQ70-00-4800.
Since your Grand Cherokee already has the tow package, the Curt # C51180 Echo wireless brake controller you'd looked at would be a plug and play installation.
I'll link you to an install/setup video that you might find helpful.
