Recommended Kayak Load Assist to Make Loading Rooftop Cargo Easier on 2008 Liberty

Question:

I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty with thule crossbars. I use them for transporting a 40 lb. kayak. Im thinking of getting 80 lb kayak. I saw a crossbar that had a slide out extension to allow easier loading. Is there an accessory that can be ed into my thule crossbars that slides out so I could lift one end of kayak onto extension then lift the other end onto my other crossbar. Thank You

Thule has their Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist, part # INA453, for use with square, aero, round, and factory bars. (It will not work with Thule AeroBlade load bars.) This item inserts into the hollow square load bar and extends out to provide a pivot point for loading a kayak.

The Kayak Lifter can support a kayak or other water craft of up to 90 lbs weight.

If you need bow/stern tie down hardware for transporting your kayak I suggest the Thule Hood Loops, part # TH529, and the Quick Draw Ratchet-Rope Tie Down, part # TH855XT. Together these items will provide a quick and safe method to secure your kayak at the bow and stern ends without having to use the vehicle bumper as an attachment point.
