Will the Clamps On the Yakima SkyBox 18 Rooftop Cargo Box Hit the Roof When Open

Question:

Have had both Thule and Yakima products for 30+ years. Want to replace Thule Adventurer roof box on above vehicle with Yakima Skybox 18 Carbonite. Will the Yakima clamps clear the panoramic roof on the Hyundai with these Thule crossbars?

As a rule, roof rack manufacturer don't recommend opening the roof when a roof rack is attached so they don't test for clearance and neither do we. It would be super noisy and you wouldn't be able to see much with a cargo box attached. That said, what I can tell you is that the clamps on the Yakima SkyBox 18 Rooftop Cargo Box part # Y07336 will require at least 2" from the underside of the crossbar which is info you can use to see if it will allow you to open your roof.
