Troubleshooting Constant Power to Trailer Brakes on 2015 Nissan Frontier
Question:
Hi, I used this wiring kit along with the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 on my 2015 Nissan Frontier. I used the Tekonsha adapter to connect the brake controller to the factory installed wiring as well. The trailer lights and turn signals work fine but the trailer brakes get a constant signal and will not release. Is this wiring kit and harness compatible with the P2 with the factory installed wiring?

It sounds like the blue electric brake wire and black 12 volt power wires are mixed up on the vehicle side of your 2015 Nissan Frontier. The factory tow package connector on some Nissan Xterras, Frontiers and Pathfinders had this issue, although it is uncommon. I would verify this first with a circuit tester like the # PTW2993. Using the circuit tester, check out the 7-way at the back of your vehicle to see if the black and blue wire functions have been reversed. The brake wire should only be receiving power when brakes are applied and the 12V wire should have power at all times while the vehicle is running.
In order to fix the issue, I recommend cutting the two wires on the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118266 a few inches back from the black connector. Once this is done, switch the wires (black to blue and blue to black) and butt connect them back together. Make sure you keep it fairly close to the black connector so the wire gauge difference will be less of a concern.
I have attached a picture showing what it will look like once you switch the wires for your reference.
