Can Jump Starting/Charging Vehicle Battery Damage Brake Controller
Question:
Hello! I currently have a Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller hooked up to my vehicle battery. Would jump starting or charging the battery affect/damage the brake controller itself or the wiring? Thank you!

Expert Reply:
A properly installed Tekonsha # TK90160 Primus brake controller will not be harmed by jump starting or charging the vehicle battery.
The 12V feed to the controller should be protected by a fuse or circuit breaker, so there should be no worries about damaging the controller when jump starting or charging the vehicle battery. If it makes you feel better, you can always unplug the wiring pigtail from the rear of the controller if you need to jump start or charge the battery, but it shouldn't be necessary.
