Troubleshooting A Turn Signal That Stays On Once The Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness Is Installed

Question:

My passenger side rear turn signal light amber constantly stays on. Even after turning off the vehicle. I unplugged the tail light from the curt wire harness. Plugged my tail light into the factory harness and the amber light is off. Once I plug the curt harness back in the amber light comes back on. If I remove the 10 amp fuse on the power wire for the curt wire harness the amber light turns off. Turn signals and brake lights work normal. Once I install the 10 amp fuse the amber light comes back on. What would be causing the passenger rear amber turn signal light to stay on solid? I bought this back in July 2021. Its now December 2021.

To start, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56292 is for a 2017 Ford Edge with the Sport and Titanium package so If you have an SE or SEL model this could be causing the issue. If you have an SE or SEL model 2017 Ford Edge then you will want to use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56272 instead of the # C56292.

The next step is check the ground wire and ensure it is making full contact with bare metal and double check that all your connections are tight. Sometime the pins in the connectors can get bent or debris that can affect the operation of the wiring harness. I recommend using some dielectric grease # 11755 on your connectors to ensure a tight waterproof seal.

If your ground is properly attached you most likely have a bad converter box. The turn signal should only be receiving power when the turn signal is on. Since yours is staying on that means the converter box is drawing power and sending it to that signal unprompted. Most likely there is a loose connection or some other issue internally with the converter box. If this is the case then your only option is to replace the wiring harness.
