Recommended Back Up Camera For A 2016 Ford F-250 That Wont Break The Bank
Question:
Hi Two Questions without breaking the bank. Have a 2016 F250, will be towing either a 6x12 or a 7x14 Enclosed cargo trailer. Need - extended mirror on each side, also a back up system as I would probably by in neighborhoods and apartments during the day and evening hours and tough turning conditions. Your expertise would be welcome. Thanks

We definitely have a couple options for the back up camera set up, but the towing mirrors for your 2016 Ford F-250 are actually going to prove to be difficult. This is due to the vast majority of these trucks coming with the factory extendable towing mirrors. If you have these, or the very large mirrors, there will not be an aftermarket application, unfortunately. However, if your mirrors look more like the one I have pictured below, you may be able to get away with a universal option.
If you take a look at the K-Source # KS3891 universal towing mirrors, they will fit most mirrors that measure 4-1/2" to 11-1/2" tall. The convex mirror will allow you to see more as reflections will appear smaller than with a flat mirror. Though universal, I have found K-Source mirrors to be the best out of the brands we carry, so if you can swing it, these will be the way to go. Please keep in mind that these are not confirmed for your 2016 F-250 though, so I cannot 100% say they will be a perfect fit or not.
Now to a camera system that I am 100% sure will work for you. There are a couple inexpensive ways to go with this, but the first will be the Rear View Safety WiFi Hitch Backup Camera # RVS-83112-WiFi. This is a wireless camera with a magnetic base that can be mounted anywhere you need it to (vehicle or trailer), as long as there is something to the magnet to adhere to. It does also include Velcro pads to mount it and can also be mounted permanently if you need to. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, but I do have to mention that it does not work with Motorola phones.
For something that is a permanent mounted option, check out the Hopkins Rear View Camera # HM60195VA. This will replace your license plate mount and includes a 2-1/2" LCD monitor. This will need to be hardwired to your truck so you will not have a view behind your trailer, but it also doesn't need an app and smartphone to be able to work. I personally prefer the # RVS-83112-WiFi since it can be moved from the vehicle to a trailer when needed, but that is personal preference.
