Will Installing Draw-Tite 76288 Class III Hitch on 2022 BMW X5 Stop Hands Free Liftgate From Working
Question:
Will installing the Draw-Tite 76288 mess up the foot operated liftgate on my 2022 BMW X5?

Expert Reply:
When the Draw-Tite # 76288 is installed on a 2022 BMW X5, the receiver tube will block the sensors from picking up movement under the bumper at the center of the vehicle. If you wave your foot several inches to the right or left of the receiver tube, the sensors will trip and open the rear hatch for you.
If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like the Tekonsha ZCI, part # 119250KIT which won't pierce your wiring or require any cutting and splicing, a ball mount like # 2753 and # 19260 for 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer ball.
I've linked to an install video for the trailer wiring harness.
