Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness for 2022 Subaru Outback Premium

Question:

So I was out riding around in my new 2022 Outback Premium the other day and I saw someone else with an Outback towing a trailer and I thought "man that is awesome." So obviously now I need to be able to tow a trailer with my Outback. I don't even know what trailer I will be towing but I do know that I will need a hitch before anything else. Do you have a hitch that will fit my Outback Premium? I also need that connection for the wires, I'm assuming that is how you control the lights and stuff. Is there anything else I am missing? Help me out here.

For a hitch that will let you experience towing a trailer with your 2022 Subaru Outback Premium I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e25TR. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a concealed cross tube. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight of 350 lbs. Make sure to consult your owner's manual to see how much your Outback is capable of towing.

You are correct, you will need a 4-way connection to power the trailer's signal lights. The best choice is the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467. We have found Tekonsha wiring to be the most reliable. This plugs into existing wiring so no cutting or splicing is required.

In order to complete your setup you will also need a ball mount. Check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.

I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
