Should Tow Vehicle Self-Leveling be Used Before or After Hitching Up Weight Distribution System
Question:
My lexus has self leveling system. Should I allow the leveling system do its thing after I lower the trailer weight and then install the Weight Distribution or should I shut off the vehicle first and allow the weight of the trailer push down the rear of the vehicle and then set up the WTD.

When using a weight distribution system (WDS) on a vehicle that has the self-leveling feature you will want to connect your loaded trailer to the tow vehicle and let it self-level first. Then you'll attach a WDS like the Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU47FR.
When looking into purchasing a WDS you want to find one with a Tongue Weight (TW) range that the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your towing setup falls in the middle of. To find the TTW of your towing setup you will need to add the TW of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer, which you can use part # e99044 for, along with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Keep in mind that a properly loaded trailer will have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of your trailer.
The TrackPro I mentioned above has a tongue weight rating of 600 lbs - 800 lbs. If this doesn't match what you have then let me know and I can help you find the correct one for your setup.
