Instead RM-152-98146-7 why cant I use a RM-1676-7? I cant see the diodes costing $100

The tow bar lighting solution you would want for your 2001 Dodge Dakota would be the Roadmaster diode kit part # RM-152-98146-7 which will give you the lighting functions for the truck as well as carries an extra circuit you can use for charging the Dakota battery. Then to complete the charge line to your Dakota battery you'd want the part # RM-156-25 as well and you'd be set.

Part # RM-1676-7 is just the umbilical adapter that runs across the tow bar. For the diodes by themselves you'd just need the part # RM-794 for a set of 4. For a 6-way you'd need the part # RM-910030-7. We have the part # DW04923-1 as well which is a jacketed 4-way wiring sold by the foot.
