5th Wheel Hitch With Under Bed Mounts for 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed
Question:
I need a fifth wheel hitch for my 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500. My truck doesn't have the pucks in the bed, but is there an aftermarket setup available so I won't' have the dumb rails sitting in the truck bed all the time? I've been told I need a sliding hitch because I have the short bed. Is there something like that available? Thanks for the help!

We've got a few under-bed rail mounted options available that wouldn't require the bed rails sitting in the truck bed.
If you don't mind a manually sliding hitch, the 20K capacity B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch, part # BWRVK3400-5W would be an outstanding choice. The hitch uses 1 inch thick jaws and a dampened hitch head, both of which help minimize the rattling and banging felt in the passenger cab of the truck. The hitch would mount using the B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch, part # BWGNRK1020-5W. This provides a lot of versatility, as in addition to 5th wheel trailers, you'll also be able to tow a gooseneck in case the need ever arises.
As another option, Demco offers the Hijacker Autoslide in an 18K capacity as part # DM8550022 or in a 21K version as part # DM8550037. Either hitch would mount using Demco's # DR37FR under-bed mounting rails. During turns, the hitch head will automaticlly slide rearward, offering more clearance between the 5th wheel and the rear of the truck cab. As the turn is completed, the hitch head will return forward to its towing position,
If you'd like to install a 7-way trailer connector in the truck bed, so you don't have to run the trailer cable up over the tailgate, you can install one using part # C56000.
