Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring To Tow A Trailer With A 2022 Hyundai Tucson Sport

Question:

I just got a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Sport edition and need to get it setup to tow a small pop up camper I'm looking at. Trailer is pretty light and doesn't have brakes so I was told I need a 4 prong wiring harness. What all do I need? And will you have parts that fir my Sport model?

If you are wanting to get your 2022 Hyundai Tucson Sport edition set up to tow a pop up camper, there will be no issues at all. The American made Curt Custom Fit Class III # C94WR will fit all models/trim packages for the 2022 model year of Tucson, including the Sport, and is a quick and easy install. This requires no drilling or trimming to get installed, but you will need to remove a small panel from the bumper. I included an image of this panel for reference as well.

For the wiring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # CU94FR. This is a quick plug and play option that will take about 15 to 20 minutes to get installed.

The last things you will need to complete the set up will be a ball mount, ball, and a pin and clip to hold everything in the hitch. The correct parts will depend on what size coupler you have on the trailer and how much rise or drop you need though, so I do suggest checking that first. The rise or drop will be calculated by measuring from the ground to the inside top of the receiver and then from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler. The difference will tell you what you need. Just as an example, if the hitch measured 15" and then the trailer coupler measured 13", something like the Curt # C45036 would be perfect with its 2" of drop. This also includes a 2" ball and the pin and clip, so it is a one stop shop, which I like.
