Can HydraStar Actuator be Submerged Into Water on Boat Trailer

Question:

Questions about the Hydrastar EOH brake system HS381-9067. Would it be acceptable for a 2019 MasterCraft X24 tandom axel trailer? GVWR is 10k. Also, does it need to be mounted where it will never go below the waterline? My concern is if we have to back the trailer in deep on a shallow ramp at some point it will ruin the unit. Thanks!

The HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness # HS381-9067 will work great for your 10K boat trailer as long as you have disc brakes on your tandem axles. If you have drum brakes then you need the kit # HS381-9066 instead so that you don't blow out your hydraulic lines with too much pressure.

The actuator can withstand the elements (like rain) but it shouldn't be submerged into the water. What you might consider doing is building a stand of sorts so that the HydraStar sits a little higher. A winch mounting bracket might work but you'll need to make sure that it's mounted level to the ground and not at an angle. Also be sure to unplug the trailer prior to backing into the water to avoid electrical mishaps.
