If you do not already have a hitch, I can highly recommend the Curt # C13345.
Although we offer numerous 3 bike-capacity options (see provided link), in my opinion the Swagman Trailhead part # S63365 offers many desirable features at an inexpensive price point. The Trailhead provides what I consider to be essential features like anti-sway cradles and padded cradles with sturdy rubber straps that both protect and secure your bikes to the rack. The Trailhead also has an angled shank, which raises the rack up by three inches, which is important given the low ground clearance at the rear of a minivan. Once the bikes are removed, the rack can be tilted away from the rear of the vehicle for greater cargo area access. These features make the Trailhead a great all-around choice, whether you are transporting the bikes across town or for extended highway trips. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch pin, but an optional locking hitch pin/cable lock combo, part # S64031 is recommended.
To carry womens bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # 64005 is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike has greater ground clearance and is not carried at an angle.
I have linked you to install details for the rack as well as some product demonstration videos and an FAQ article that you might find helpful.
