Will Installing A Hitch On A 2022 Toyota Highlander Make The Hands-Free Liftgate Not Work?

Question:

I am looking to get a hitch and wiring installed on my new 2022 Highlander. I am looking at the Curt C99FR, but I have a question. Will this make my no hands liftgate sensor thing not work anymore? I quite like that feature and it looks like the hitch will sit right where that sensor is located. If this will make it not work, is there a better option? What do you recommend for the wiring as well. Thanks.

Though installing the Curt # C99FR hitch on your 2022 Toyota Highlander will limit the area of use for the sensor, I have never seen it completely negate its use. All you need to do is find the sweet spot to the left or right of the receiver opening. It will take a couple times to get used to, but after that it will be second nature and you wont even notice the difference. I included an install video of this on a 2021 Highlander for you to check out as well.

As to the wiring, I recommend going with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK99FR. This is a plug and play harness that will be a quick and easy install. Tekonsha harnesses also have the longest life out of all the brands we carry, so it is highly recommended.
