Can a Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch be Used in a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 with 8 Foot Bed

Question:

I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with 8foot bed. I have access to a Reese 16k Qwik Slide hitch to use. It appears that the Qwik Slide hitch will go in an all the way forward or all the way back lock. Can it stop in the middle to be used with my 8foot bed with Reese rails located in the traditional position. I know my 8foot bed would work with a fixed hitch and does not need a slider. I just have this slider and would like to make it work if possible.

You can use the Reese slider hitch # RP30051 in a long bed truck like your 2005 Chevy Silverado. Since you have an 8 foot bed, you will not need to slide the hitch back to make tight turns. You cannot lock it in between positions so you should just keep it in the locked, towing position since there is no reason to slide it back. The locked towing position will put the head in just about the same location as a fixed 5th wheel hitch. I have included a link to a video review of this hitch for you.
