Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for Bike Rack and Towing With 2021 Ford Explorer Platinum
Question:
I need a hitch for my 2021 Ford Explorer Platinum. This has to be able to handle my bikes on my bike rack and I also need it for towing trailers. Please give me whatever I need for a complete towing setup since the my vehicle doesn't have wiring or anything else. Thanks for the help.

For your 2021 Ford Explorer Platinum, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e29YR. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver.
Since you will be towing you will also need a wiring harness. The most reliable option is the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118599. This plugs into existing wiring on your vehicle and provides you with a 4-way connection at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights.
In order to complete your setup you will also need a ball mount. Check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
