Will a Reese Weight Distribution System Work on a V-Nose Car Hauler Trailer
Question:
Will part number RP66021 work on a 24 ft. Hallmark V-nose car hauler? The brackets for the chains for trunion bars are already mounted on the frame. Do you have to make any modifications?

If you already have the correct chain hanging brackets on your trailer then that is great news because that means that the system will fit without using any additional hangers or modifying anything. But you will need to choose a system based on the total tongue weight of the trailer. Total tongue weight is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow and then adding to that the weight of any cargo loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
Reese system # RP66021 is rated for 400 to 800 pounds tongue weight. Your total tongue weight will need to be within that range, preferably in the middle of the range for the best performance.
You will also need to add a shank and ball to this system. Shanks come in different rises and drops so I have included a link to the ones that will fit this system and a link to an FAQ article that tells you how to measure for the rise or drop you will need.
For a ball you can use 2 inch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286. I have included a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution for you.
