Although your Wrangler Unlimited has the plug under the rear of the vehicle that allows the # HM42190 to plug in, because your vehicle was not factory equipped with the 7-way not all of the functions might be active.
You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the center pin on the 7-way once it is installed. If it is active, the pin should show power when the transmission is shifted into reverse. If it does, using a 7-way to 5-pin adapter like part # A75TB would work fine for you.
If the center pin on the 7-way is NOT active, you would need to manually tap a wire into the reverse light circuit of your Wrangler and tap it into the wire feeding the center pin of the 7-way, which according to Hopkins, is the purple wire. Locating the reverse light circuit would be fairly simple. Locate the wiring harness feeding the taillights and use a circuit tester to probe each wire in the harness until you find the wire that illuminates the tester while the vehicle is in reverse.
Once the center pin of the 7-way is active, it will activate the reverse lock-out solenoid of the hydraulic brake actuator of your boat trailer, if it is so equipped.
