Will 8,000 lb Electric Brakes Fit 7,000 lb Dexter Axle
Question:
Will 8000 lb dexter electric drum brakes bolt on to a 7000 lb dexter drum brake axle ?
asked by: Steve
Expert Reply:
Electric brakes for an 8,000 lb axle will not fit a Dexter 7,000 lb axle, and the reason for that is electric brakes for an 8k axle require a 4-bolt brake mounting flange, while the 7k brakes fit a 5-bolt mounting flange, which is the flange on a 7k Dexter axle.
So for electric brakes that fit your 7,000 lb Dexter axle you will need the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA.
Along with these brakes you will need the Mounting Hardware # BRKH12.
