B and W Turnoverball and Companion Hitch for 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 with Flatbed
Question:
Hello, I am interested in installing the BandW turnover gooseneck and fifth wheel companion on my 2001 ram 3500. Its got a pickup bed now, and will have a flatdeck at some later date. I see there is a flatdeck specific version of the companion hitch does this imply that the regular companion cannot be used with a flatdeck? Can it be converted, or am I looking at repurchasing the entire companion unit when I switch to a flatbed?

The correct B and W Turnoverball rail kit for a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 is the part # BWGNRK1394. If you were to install a flat bed on the truck at a later date that would require you use the Flatbed Companion Hitch part # BWRVK3050 which is designed for the taller flat bed setup that then makes the hitch ball recessed.
With a standard bed you'd need a Companion like the part # BWRVK3500-5W which has a taller height overall and also does not have the ball recessed as much.
