Could 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles Replace Shorter Spring

Question:

My tandem 6,000 lbs axle RV has these installed from the factory. Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers - Double Eye Springs - Tandem Axle - 3K to 6K Item # LC279687. The only difference is mine appear to measure 5” across not 5-1/2”. It also has 4 leaf 3,000 lbs. Double eye Springs. Which I measured 25 1/4 inches Eye to Eye, wheel off the ground. Measurement from leaf spring eye to equalizer top mounting bolt is 29-1/2” this is roughly the same for all four leafs. The overall measurement from front leaf hanger bolt to rear leaf hanger bolt is 59” it appears the axles are 33 1/2 inches on center. I have purchased, 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26inch Long Item # e94SR to replace the basically flat leaf springs that were originally installed. My question, do I need to move The leaf hangers? Do you have some measurements.

Helpful Expert Reply:

If you measured your old springs and they were 25-1/4 inches when worn out you'd most likely need to move your hangers to replace them with the part # e94SR. Now with that said looking at your pictures it does look like your shackle angles are pretty flat so the longer spring could work potentially as-is so you might try and install them and see what it looks like.
