Question:

My tow bar needs to fit a 4 3/8 opening with a 5/8 quick connect pin. Will this adapter work?

I would need to know what tow bar you have to determine which adapter you will need. There are several adapters available that depend on the model tow bar and the model of base plates you are using on the vehicle. If you have a Blue Ox tow bar you would not need an adapter if you used the Blue Ox base plates, # BX2258. Or if you have a Roadmaster tow bar you could use Roadmaster base plates # RM-521567-4.

If you have some other tow bar or base plates, let me know what they are and I can determine what you will need.

There are other items you will need to flat tow a vehicle in addition to the base plates and tow bar. You will need safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.

For safety cables you can use # RM-643. For lighting there are several options. If you will not be towing often I recommend a magnetic kit like # RM-2120. For more frequent towing use a permanent installation like # 154-792-118158. I also show that you will need to pull a fuse to flat tow the 2013 Honda CR-V in order to avoid draining the battery. Check the owners manual to confirm. To make this less of a hassle you can use fuse bypass # RM76511.

Most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. I recommend the easy to set up and use Patriot proportional system # BRK2019. This system will apply the CR-V brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

be sure to consult the CR-V owners manual for more specific information on how it should be towed. I have included some helpful links on flat towing for you.
