How to Know if Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains TH01594247 Are on & Are Rim Protectors Needed

Question:

I have a 2018 Honda CRV EX. Tire size 235/60-18. I just received my order today. Very quick delivery, thank you. I did practice putting on the chains today in my garage but plan on doing so several times before I drive in the snow. Ive also watched the installation videos several times. It was fairly easy and I believe I got it on correctly. With more practice it will be even easier. I didnt want to move my car on the garage floor without snow to see if done correctly. How do I know if it is done correctly? I am a 67 year old woman and never put on tire chains before especially living here in California. Also, do you recommend putting on the rim protectors? And once you put them on do they stay on? You dont have to remove and put on again each time? The chains dont appear to be near the wheel rims but just to ensure I do what is advised to protect my car. Thank you for your assistance.

Glad you were able to get it delivered and everything set up easily with the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH01594247. In regard to knowing if it is done correctly, so long as everything is properly connected, and you have pulled the tensioning cable through and connected it to the red hook, you're all done. Just give it a good tug and see if it is tight on the tire; so long as it isn't coming apart anywhere the connections are good and you're set to drive off with your Konig Snow Tire Chains # TH01594247.

So that's really all it is - just making sure the connections are secure with these chains. As for the rim protectors, they are not a requirement. Is any part of the actual chain near the rims? If not, and the chains are on the tire only and not by the rim, you don't have to use the protector. If the chains are close to the rim and could contact it, then I do recommend using the protector. You can leave it on if you like, as it just snaps together on either side of the chain.
