Recommended Cross Bars For Carrying a Kayak With a 2022 Ford Explorer With Factory Raised Side Rails

I just got a 2022 Ford Explorer and it has the raised side rails already on it. What crossbars will fit the factory rails and allow me to carry a Kayak?

I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA150B-2 with the Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs # RRSX100 as these legs will clamp to your raised side rails on your 2022 Ford Explorer. I find the clamps on the legs are more secure than using other legs that use straps to hold the cross bars to the roof rails. I have linked a video that we have of these legs and crossbars being installed on a Ford Escape as they use similar side rails.

The Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier # S512 will allow for you to mount more than one kayak or additional accessory as it holds the kayak on its side giving you additional space that would normally be covered by the one kayak. When you do not need to carry the Kayak you can leave the carrier attached as it will fold down for storage.
