Can You Change The Rise Of Scissor Steps On Camper

Question:

If my camper doorsill is 22inch off the ground, what stair unit could I use that would reduce the step rise to about 4 to 4.5 inches. I am disabled and need a lower rise. Any hope for me? My understanding is that, the more you lift up on the bottom step of a scissor staircase, the lower the stair rise is, but you still have flat horizontal steps...Am I correct? Do you sell five or six step units that might result in a 4 - 4.5inch rise if opened up to an overall rise of 22?

I have a solution for you. To answer your question, It is not safe for you or the product to use scissor steps if they are not fully extended. They are designed to be used when fully extended if not they may become unstable or damaged.

You can use the TorkLift GlowStep Stow N' Go Scissor Steps w/ Landing Gear - 4 Steps - 375 lbs - Black Bracket # TLA7834 with the TorkLift GlowGuide Handrail for Campers and RVs with GlowStep Scissor Steps # TLA7621.
These steps have a rise and drop of 7 1/2 inches.

We currently do not have a step system with multiple steps with a rise that small that can do the job you want it to do. A drop and rise that small will only get you one or two steps and since you have a 22 inch height that will not be a reasonable height for you to step up on to or off of.
