How to Avoid Bikes Making Contact with Kuat Transfer V2 3-Bike Rack

Question:

The RockyMounts WestSlope avoids handlebar interference by elevating bikes as they go rearward. We have mountain bikes with wide handlebars. For two of our bikes, when they are on the ground, side-by-side, one facing left and one facing right, one set of handlebars interferes with the seat of another. How do we avoid recreating this on the rack? Does Kuat solve for this problem or would we need to go with the RockyMounts WestSlope?

Great question!

The Kuat Transfer V2 # KU24FR allows you to adjust the pitch of the cradles so you can do your best to fit bikes with similar handlebar positions together. If you jump to the 0:45 minute mark of the linked review video you can see AJ talk about and show how this is done.

When comparing the Transfer V2 to the RockyMounts WestSlope # RKY10223 I recommend going with the Transfer V2. These racks are pretty comparable but the biggest difference is how you tilt the racks away from the vehicle. The Transfer V2 uses a foot pedal to activate the tilting feature (see 3:00 minute mark of video) while the WestSlope uses a pull-pin to activate the tilting feature (see 1:00 minute mark of linked review video) which can be harder to do by yourself. If you have the bikes fully loaded and you stop and need to get into the cargo area of your vehicle it will be much easier to do by yourself if you have the Transfer V2.
