How to Determine Correct Electric Brakes For 3,500 lb Axle

Question:

I’m looking to replace my trailer brakes that aren’t working right. I have 15 inch wheels and a 3500 lb axle and found a tag that says model T35. Is this enough to find all the parts I will need? Thanks

We can get you the correct replacement brakes for your 3,500 lb axle, but just to be sure you are getting the right fit, there are a couple of things you will want to verify. First is the size of your drum, which when you measure it needs to be 10 inches in diameter and the inside should be at least 2-1/4 inches wide, which is highly likely since you have a 3,500 lb axle.

Next you want to check your brake mounting flange, and it should have bolt holes that are 2-7/8 inches apart, like Brake Mounting Flange # 4-35, which I added a photo of below with the dimensions. If you have the right drums size and flange, then we do have electric brake assemblies for you:

- Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-468-469

The Dexter # 23-468-469 are self-adjusting, which is really convenient because you won't have to constantly re-adjust the brakes by hand, and they even come with the mounting hardware so you don't have to make any other purchases.
