Comparing 1-1/4 Inch Receiver to 2 Inch Receiver for Trailer Hitch on 2021 Honda CR-V
Question:
I was looking at this Curt hitch with a 1.25 inch receiver on it. I see you have a lot more with a 2 inch when compared to the 1.25 inch. Is there a reason to go with the 2 inch? It looks to me like the increased towing capacity doesn't matter because my 2021 Honda CR-V can't even tow as much as this Curt hitch is capable of. Is there a hitch you think is best? Thanks for the info and advice.

The biggest advantage to a trailer hitch with a 2" receiver like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98848 over the Curt # C12169 is going to be the additional options you have with a 2" receiver. This will allow you to choose from a larger variety of accessories when compared to the 1-1/4" receiver since it is more common.
The etrailer # e98848 is what I would recommend if I were to choose one for a 2021 Honda CR-V. This is a Class III hitch with a concealed cross tube which will help maintain a factory look. What sets it apart from others is the matte black finish which not only protects the hitch, but also helps to hide dirt and dings.
Since you mentioned towing, I also recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118741. This plugs directly into existing wiring in the rear cargo area and will provide you with a 4-way connection to power your trailer's signal lights. If you need a ball mount, I think the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 is a good choice. It comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some installation and review videos for your reference.
