Does Trailer Tire Weight Capacity Need to Factor in Flat Tire Situation to Get Home
Question:
I have a tandem axle travel trailer with a GVWR of 6600lbs. It is currently fitted with ST205/75R14/C tires. It is now time to replace them. I have a question, if I got a flat would C rated tires be able to handle the load without damage while I got safely off the road assuming I am fully loaded? [ 6600 GVWR- estimated tongue weight of 600lbs = 6000 / 3 remaining tires = 2000lbs per tire ?]. Wont that temporary over load cause the others to ultimately fail? Would you recommend I move up to a D rating ?

In an absolutely ideal world your best option would be for your tires to have the weight capacity of the Load Range D in your size of ST205/75-14 so that you wouldn't have to worry but in reality you'd probably be just fine getting home with three of your Load Range C tires. I'd just be super cautious and stay well below the max speed rating of the tires.
In the Load Range D though we have the part # AM10235 in your size.
