Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness for 2021 Ford Explorer Towing Boat Trailer
Question:
I have a 2021 Ford Explorer that I plan on using to tow my boat. I need to add a trailer hitch and also need wiring. My boat trailer has a 7 pin connection on it. Please let me know what hitch you think I should get and also what wiring I need to connect to my trailer.

For a hitch for your 2021 Ford Explorer I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # CU78FR. This is a Class III hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs and tongue weight of 600 lbs. It has a concealed cross tube to help maintain the factory look as well.
For wiring, you will need to start by adding a 4-way. I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118599. This wiring harness connects quickly and easily, plugging into existing wiring. Once you have installed the 4-way you will want to add the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7. This kit comes with everything you need to add the 7-way to your Explorer. The included adapter has a 4-way and 7-way plug so you will be able to use both depending on your needs.
If you also need a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989899. This kit comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball as well as a ball mount bag you can store everything in.
I have attached several installation videos for your reference.
