Compatibility of Curt C51180 Wireless Brake Controller with Motorhome

Question:

I have a 2013 Forest River Georgetown. 36 feet. It has the 7 point plug on the rear. My tow dolly is a Stehl. Im having to rewire the dolly, due to somebody who rewired it incorrectly. Now my questions. Do the brakes have to be wired as well as the lights? Is this controller really as easy to use as the reviews say? Just plug and go basically? This device sounds like just the thing I need.

If your tow dolly has electric brakes and you want them to actuate (which is highly recommended), you'll need to install a brake controller.

Although the Curt # C51180 Echo is a great piece of equipment, due to the interior partition walls of your Georgetown, the Bluetooth signal wouldn't reach the driver's seat from the unit plugged into the 7-way, so a wireless brake controller wouldn't be a good choice.

Your best option would be to use a standard brake controller. From what I read, your motorhome is constructed on a Ford F-53 chassis, which means it's already prewired for a brake controller. The factory installed brake controller connector is located on the steering column support as shown in the provided photo.

I'd recommend the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160 along with the # 3035-P brake controller harness.
