Installing 5th Wheel Hitch On 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup That Already Has Gooseneck Hitch Installed
Question:
I currently have a 2004 dodge 2500 Cummins ccsb with and unknown gooseneck hitch under bed. I would like to use a sidewinder pin box on my 2006 crossroad tf37ck 39ft 5th wheel toy hauler for better turning/cab clearance but was told not to use it with a gooseneck to 5th wheel hitch. Can I mount a 5th wheel hitch above bed and retain the under bed gooseneck? Im new to the 5th wheel game as I just inherited the toy hauler. Any and all help is highly appreciated and thank you in advance for your time.

It is doubtful that you'll be able to install the above bed industry standard rails with a gooseneck already installed under the bed. However, if you can identify what under-bed gooseneck system you currently have installed, we can either confirm that or identify a solution that will work.
You are correct that a gooseneck to 5th wheel adapter should not be used with a rotating turret type pin box. The easiest way to install a set of above bed rails is to use either the Curt X5 5th Wheelbase Rails Adapter, # 16310 or the Demco 5th Wheelbase Rails Adapter, # DM6140. This however will require a change the pin box on your 5th wheel. You can then use a slider type 5th wheel hitch since you have a short bed truck. Or you will need to change the gooseneck hitch.
