What 5th-Wheel Hitch Do You Recommend for My 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500?
Question:
What is the best 5th-wheel hitch for my 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 with an 8-foot bed?

Expert Reply:
For the best hitch for your 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 with an 8-foot bed, it depends on if your truck has a factory OEM puck system or not. If your vehicle has OEM pucks, I recommend the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # RP58FR. One of the great features of the Reese M5 is that it includes a single-piece, always-ready Talon jaw that wraps around king pin to ensure proper connection. It also has an impressive 27,000 gross towing weight capacity and a vertical load limit of 6,750.
If your vehicle does not have OEM pucks, I recommend the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30928. This Reese model comes with the same Talon jaw as the # RP58FR. In addition, the # RP30928 has a maximum weight capacity of 20,000 pounds (gross towing) and a 5,000 pound vertical weight capacity. Unfortunately, we do not carry an M5 that has a higher weight capacity that is compatible with your 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 without OEM prep. For the base rails, you will need the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # RP84FR. If you need help with the installation of this hitch, I went ahead and attached a video to walk you through the process.
