Roof Rack for 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser to Carry Thule Hullavator Kayak Carrier

Question:

Thanks for all your answers. One last question. A friend gave me his used Thule Hullavator. The part that attaches onto the rail appears to require a square thule cross bar, it measures about 1 ¾”. Can you please advise on which foot / towers and cross bars will work best on my toyota fj cruiser factory roof rack?

For your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser that has factory raised side rails you'd need a set of crossbars that extend past the feet of the rack like the Malone AirFlow 2 rack part # MPG216 which is a fit for your vehicle and would work great with the Thule Hullavator part # TH898 that you mentioned.

One more question, My vehicle is pretty high, with the rack on top, it is over 6'. How far down can I expect the hullivator to come down the side of the car? Meaning how high will I have to lift my kayak?

From the top of the crossbars down the Hullavator has a 40 inch drop where you'd set the kayak on when it's folded down.

The older style of Thule Hullavator that you have does require Thule square bars so for that you'd need the part numbers # TH712400 and # TH710401 and you'd be set.
