Will the Spare Tire Carrier - Horse Trailer Rust
Question:
Dear Folks at Etrailer, Is this made from a low carbon steel alloy like 1018? Its not a stainless steel alloy is it? It will rust, given time and exposure? So, it definitely needs to be painted? I do know that it is intended to be a weldable alloy. Any insight is appreciated. Regards,

The Spare Tire Carrier part # 413200 is designed to be welded and then primed and painted for protection. It's not stainless, galvanized, or zinc plated. It can and will rust if not protected with paint or powder coating.
I don't have the exact steel composition unfortunately.
