Is It OK to Transport a Single 50-Pound Electric Bike on the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack?
Question:
My rack has a weight limit of 40 lbs per bike. I was wondering if it was ok to transport just 1 ebike of 50lbs. Is this ok. Thanks

I have a great solution for transporting your 50-pound electric bike. If you have the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU24FR (3-bike version) or the # KU74FR (2-bike version), it is important to adhere to the per-bike weight capacity of 40 pounds no matter how many bikes you have on the rack. This is because the Transfer V2 is engineered to have that weight capacity per bike position on the rack.
With that being said, removing the battery from your bike during transport will alleviate some of that weight. Although, in this case, it may not be the 10 pounds that you need. The only other option is to find a bike rack that will be able to hold that weight. For this reason, I recommend the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # RKY10007-05. The MonoRail has the same wheel-mounted attachment style as the Transfer V2 and has a per-bike weight capacity of 60 pounds.
